What does one do after directing Patrick White's Ham Funeral at the New?

Phil Rouse directs Alex Buzo's Rooted as the inaugural production of the Don't Look Away company. The venue is NIDA's intimate Parade Studio.

The central theme of Buzo's 1969 play is the myth of Marriage and the crumbling Power of the Breadwinner, with a career in the Public Service. The insightfulness and wisdom of the "yob" who still lives at home.

White rather than the traditional black clothed stage hands and sets brought the play upto date though the ownership of a seaside apartment is not quite believable in modern Manly.
