On the way to the ANU after legal depositing 1930s Annandale: A Short Walk and the second edition Annandale's Great War: A Short Walk at the National Library in Canberra on Friday 30 October 2015.

The expanded second edition of Annandale's Great War: A Short Walk includes more about indigenous digger Douglas Grant, the wireless Miller brothers and the Fitzpatrick brothers from Leichhardt as well as the war Memorial at the Rozelle Tram Sheds (Harold Park).

The new cover features the Annandale Rail Viaduct which was constructed during World War 1 and Albert Smithson a carpenter before enlisting in August 1914, who died aged 21 in 1916.

Expressions of Interest are being sought for the 2016 Annandale Heritage Festival. The festival encourages individuals organisations and businesses to celebrate Annandale's rich heritage during Australian Heritage Week 16 April to Monday 25 April 2016

The theme for the 2016 festival will be Food and Beverages.

Aborignal Smoking Ceremony

The Douglas Grant Memorial Park (cnr Chester and Taylor Streets Annandale) Opening began with a Smoking Ceremony to the strains of a Bagpipe.

The Mayor of Leichhardt Council, Rochelle Porteus, Local MLA Jamie Parker, Councillors Kogoy, Kelly and Channels were present. Former Councillor Web did the Welcome to Country then the Mayor provided a brief insight to Douglas Grant....more
