Ashfield Council, in Sydney's inner west, is running an Electrical and Electronic Waste Collection afternoon at their depot in Prospect Road, Summer Hill.

They are collecting Computers & Accessories, Stereo Systems, TVs, DVD and Video Players, Telephones & Mobile Phones, Cameras, Gaming Consoles, Household electrical appliances such as Microwaves, irons and kettles.

But not: Smoke Alarms, Chemicals, Paints, White Goods, Air Conditioners.

It is easy to pass the depot, which I thought was a block of flats. On a third pass, I saw the signage and joined a couple of other cars dropping off stuff.

The collection wasn't restricted to residents of the municipality. They just asked for a Postcode.

The council workers packed the stuff, from Giant TVs to my iron, phones, stick blender and CD Writer, into a moderate sized shipping container.

They took the LED Lamp but not the Fluoro.

Ashfield Council gets ***** (five stars) for this initiative!!

There will also be collections in October, November, December 2014. More about Residential e-Waste Collection Events at Ashfield Council Depot, 7 Prospect Road, Summer Hill at
