- Considered Fedora, Debian Woody and Knoppix
- Upgraded from Windows 95 on NEC Versa (circa 1997) to Knoppix 3.2 (PC World October 2003) purchased Targa notebook November 03, switch January 2004
- Open Office opens/saves as Word and Excel Files - serious document exchange - helped draft AS8015-2005 - ICT Governance standard
- PDF reader works fine under browser
- Editing Photos using GIMP - PCMCIA Camera Card
- PFTP to upload webpages, text editor to create webpages/slides for talks
- Evaluating Breezy Badger for uploading photos via USB and Video with Kino/FFMPEG since mid 2005
- Looking to upgrade now to Kunbuntu Edgy or Knoppix 5.1.
- Licensing - Free/Open Source Software, GPL, Creative Commons, Open Formats OGG/Vorbis/Theora
- License required for MPEG2 or MP3 - can be part of hardware
- Support - pre-selected software - eg Kino wasn't in Ubuntu Breezy Badger but now in Edgy Eft via Synaptic Package Manager (optional)
- Security - accounts/root/superuser - maybe overkill for PC/Laptop
