Annandale's landmark 1889 Gothic Revival Sandstone Hunter Bailie Presbyterian church and 1886 Arts and Crafts brick hall will be open for inspection. The church contains several clerestory stained glass windows, two of which will have been newly refurbished.

There will also be recitals on the 1892 Hill & Son Organ, in the church, by the resident organist Ralph Lane OAM.

There will be an exhibition of historical documents and photographs and Tea, coffee and scones in the Hall and a sausage sizzle in the grounds.

Admission is free, access for the disabled.

JOHN YOUNG AND THE DEVELOPMENT OF ANNANDALE AS A MODEL TOWNSHIP

John Young was the creative force behind the development of Annandale, which was the largest transaction in freehold property ever made in the Australian colonies to 1877 and highly successful despite the severe depression starting in 1890.

Norma Perry and Beverley Walsh are researchers for the Annandale Urban research Association which will publish its first Journal on 'The Early History of Annandale' in March 2015.

Art Deco Theatre1930s Annandale: A Short Guided Walk

1930s Annandale will be guided by Marghanita da Cruz. This will be the 5th Walk in a series which is exploring Annandale's History and Heritage, a decade at a time. The 1930s, saw Annandale's buildings get an Art Deco makeover.

There were regular Chocolate Wheel fundraisers in Young, Annandale and Macquarie Streets just off Parramatta Road.

This illustrated talk explores how a 1874 four-storey sandstone warehouse facade in Pitt Street at the head of Martin Place, with the first depictions of Australian flora and fauna, was later reconstructed as the front of the new Methodist Church at 81a Johnston Street.

Presented by local architectural historian and author Philip Drew.

Propagate local provenance plants at the Rozelle Bay Community Native Nursery on Wednesday or Friday mornings. The nursery is constructed with recycled Iron bark timber from the Pyrmont Bridge. Or rample through the reintroduced native plants on Annandale's wild side.

Take a tram ride on the brick Metropolitan Freight Line viaduct, along the foreshore and glimpse the history Glebe Island Bridge.

Visit the White and Johnston's Creeks Aqueducts, the first reinforced concrete structure in Australia or view the 1910 Electricity Substation, the first to provide electric light to suburban sydney and now the second oldest on the AUSGRID network

Creeks and Streets named after John White, surgeon to the first fleet and George Johnston, who arrived with the First Fleet, and lead the Rum Rebellion.
